Community Recycling Project

At Fred & Martie’s Soup Kitchen, we believe that building a cleaner, healthier environment starts with us. Our Community Recycling Project is designed to empower residents of Claremont, Kathrada Park, and surrounding areas to take ownership of their environment and enjoy meaningful rewards for their efforts.

Why we do it?

Litter and waste have a significant impact on our community’s health and wellbeing. Through this project, we inspire individuals to actively participate in cleaning their surroundings, fostering a sense of pride and responsibility. This initiative not only improves the environment but also supports families by offering essential items in return for recyclable waste.

How it works

  • Residents bring recyclable materials—such as plastics, cans, glass, and paper—to designated collection points.
  • Each contribution earns points or rewards, which can be exchanged for clothing, toiletries, and other basic necessities.
  • These rewards provide relief for individuals and families in need, offering essentials that many would otherwise struggle to afford.

The Impact

This recycling project goes beyond just cleaning streets—it uplifts lives. Many in our community rely on these rewards as their only means to access critical items like soap, shoes, or warm clothes.
Together, we are creating cleaner streets, stronger connections, and a more sustainable future.

Support the Project
